Biggers is better, or at least Jax Biggers probably thinks so. He was very good at the University of Arkansas, and also in his first 2 pro seasons in the Texas Rangers organization. Not being able to play in 2020 was a setback for minor league players, but Biggers is ready in 2021 to prove he is better, or at least good enough to move up in the system.
The Ridge Point High School (Missouri City, Texas) star hit .425 as a senior before moving on to the Arkansas Razorbacks beginning in 2017. Biggers, a shortstop as an amateur, had an exceptional freshman season in Fayetteville, hitting .338/.423. He was an important part of that year’s NCAA Regional Champion team that went all the way to the College World Series final, losing to Oregon State. For his two seasons as a Razorback under Coach Dave Van Horn, Jax was .310/.406 in 125 games with 23 doubles, 4 triples, and 8 home runs.
The Rangers picked him in the 8th round of the 2018 draft, sending him first to the AZL Rangers for 1 game, then to the Spokane Indians (Northwest Lg, Short-season A) where in 39 games, he hit .260. In 2019, Biggers moved up to Hickory (Full-season A, South Atlantic League) showing improved pro numbers: .282/.369 in 76 games for the Crawdads.
Biggers is shown for the start of the 2021 season with the Down East Wood Ducks (Low-A), with a chance to be back soon at Hickory, now the Rangers High-A affiliate. Now also playing 2B, 3B, and OF, Jiggers is out to prove that he is, in fact, better than the competition.
