Astros Make Major Mistake

The Astros July 30 trade will turn out to be one of the biggest mistakes in recent memory. GM Dana Brown dealt Joey Loperfido, Jake Bloss, and Will Wagner to the Toronto Blue Jays for pitcher Yusei Kikuchi. This deal looked bad from the start and it’s only going to get worse as time goes on. The worst part of the trade for Houston was giving up Wagner (Astros #13 prospect). 

This trade is going to end up biting Dana Brown where it hurts.

Yankee Fans Wonder

Fans of the New York Yankees have to be wondering when the team will give T.J. Rumfield a chance to see what he can do in the Major Leagues. The 24 year-old 1B/3B is having a solid season at Triple-A Scranton, yet he is not even on the Yankee’s 30 Top Prospects list. 

Rumfield, 6’5, 225 lb, was drafted in 2021 by the Phillies in the 12th round of the amateur draft and was traded to the Yankees in November 2021. Since then, he was quietly worked his way up through the Yankees minor league system. 

Bob Kendrick Should Be Commissioner of Baseball

It is long past time that Major League Baseball made a significant change that would alter the course of the sport for the better. MLB owners should name Bob Kendrick as Commissioner. Kendrick is President of the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum, a well-respected man, and a tireless ambassador for the sport of baseball. He would be an exceptional choice to lead MLB into the future.

Come On, White Sox – Hire Me!

The Chicago White Sox fired their manager and three coaches. So naturally, I applied for the manager’s job. I sent them a tweet announcing my availability for the position, and who knows? I may get the call any day. I was totally honest with them: I can’t do any worse, and it will cost them less to hire me than they were paying the former guy.

Grow Up, Bryce Harper

Bryce Harper is 30 years old – in calendar years. In mental years, his age is substantially lower. The Phillies player proved his immaturity yet again on May 14 when he charged the Rockies dugout, apparently looking for a fight.

Baseball Is Not A Winter Sport

The Major League Baseball season is too long. The regular season begins in early April and extends, if your team is good enough, into late October, and possibly November. What ends up happening is that the most important games of the season – the playoffs and the World Series – are often played in some of the foulest weather we've seen all year.

Come On Rob Manfred, Let Pete Rose Back in Baseball

Pete Rose is surely one of the most infamous characters in baseball history. It is widely known that Rose was banned from baseball for betting on games and for lying about it. Because he is on baseball's ineligible list, he is also not eligible for Hall of Fame consideration.
